The Journey Was Worth It
Getting to the Amazon jungle isn’t simple. Our team went by bus, plane, canoe, and even on foot. At times it felt like we’d never get there - but the moment we arrived, all the effort was worth it. The people welcomed us with open arms, and suddenly every mile mattered.
We set up mobile clinics wherever we could - inside community buildings, under open skies, on borrowed benches. Families showed up with little ones running at their side or elders leaning on their arms. They came hoping for medicine, but they also came hoping to be seen and cared for. And that’s exactly what happened. Our doctors treated infections, handed out much-needed medications, and offered words of encouragement that meant as much as the medicine itself.
Some of my favorite moments weren’t in the exam areas at all. They were with the kids waiting outside - singing songs, kicking a soccer ball around, laughing at silly games. For a while, the heaviness of life seemed to lift, and joy had the final word.
Here’s just a glimpse of what we saw happen in those few days:
400+ patients received free medical care and medications
84 families took home water filters that will provide safe drinking water for the next 10 years
69 people prayed with our team to learn more about Jesus and salvation
344 individuals were personally prayed for and encouraged
Dozens of children were impacted through songs, games, and Bible stories
This trip only happened because of partnership. Grace City Church and Hope Church in Denver came alongside us, and together we reached three remote villages that otherwise might not have received this care.
I’ll never forget the faces, the gratitude, and the stories shared in the jungle. Every step of the journey was worth it - and it makes me excited for what’s ahead.
